Labour and Industrial Relations Minister Alfred Manase said PNG’s population is big compared to the total number of people informal employment which is less and yet the workers are the biggest tax payers. “We want to create that basket for more tax payers and that can only happen if we have more people employed,” he said. “There are a lot of issues in the department, like the economic data, we don’t know how many people are working at what skills level. “As soon as we set the agenda for the department, we will be able to provide these sorts of information.” Manase said currently, the department was not able to project the number of workers required for certain jobs. “The critical labour market information is not available for future projections and forward planning,” he said. “We must be able to project the number of workers required for certain jobs and the training can then be tailored to meet these needs. “We need to have that direction with the market place so they provide the data for jobs.” The National Next : Wholesale Internet Data Price Must Be Maintained : NICTA Comments are closed.
